Today we visit one of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava center, with a nice coastal boulevard with excellent facilities and located in a beautiful bay: Llafranc, at the foot of the mountain of Saint Sebastian.

Llafranc beach, in Calella de Palafrugell

Llafranc was formerly a fishing village near the capital, Palafrugell. Today it is a lively residential area, especially in summer. Along the boulevard, surrounded by trees, you can walk across the bay at the foot of the beach of clear and transparent waters. Llafranc beach has many facilities as showers, bins, boat rentals, etc. It also has a large sport marina harbour.

Llafranc beach has interesting facilities for bathers

With a length of 330 meters and a width of 40 meters it is one of the widest beaches in the area. Its distinctive character, elegant and cosmopolitan, make it an attractive area where many families enjoy their holidays.

<img title="Arena dorada en la playa de Llafranc.
The rocky point d’en Blanc is situated right of the bay, in the border of the own Llafranc. This place is also known as Garbi, for the wind blowing in this side of the bay.

The Sant Sebastia Lighthouse, at the top of the promontory, was built in the XIXth century, when Isabel II was queen of Spain, and in that same hill you’ll find Sant Baldiri Chapel, an Iberian settlement, and a medieval watchtower (erected agains against the pirates rages) and also the Cova de Sant Roc, a small cave where you’ll find the image of the Virgin.

Sant Sebastià Lighthouse, near Llafranc beach, in Calella de Palafrugell

Near to the Llafranc beach, one kilometer away, you can visit the dolmen of Can Mina dels Torrents (megalithic remains dating between 3,400 and 3000 BC). To arrive to it follow the old path of the Ermitans from the church of Santa Rosa de Llafranc to the mountain of Saint Sebastian.
