Cala Salionç, in Tossa de Mar, Girona, Costa Brava, Spain

The urbanisation, of the same name as the cove, has all kinds of services, so that in front of the creek we found a restaurant, a supermarket, showers, public phone, etc. Cala Salionç has thick, golden sand. Its dimensions are small, only 80 meters long by 50 wide, but its geographical position makes it a cove very well protected from the wind stakes. In the center of the cove we can guess a little stream, always dry in summer, that comes from the Cadiretes massif.

On both sides of the beach there are rocky outcrops ideal for scuba diving and enjoying the underwater. In addition, to the left of the cove, always looking out to sea, we find a coastal path very well conditioned where we’ll enjoy a pleasant walk.

Thus, we find a small entrance of transparent sea water in the rock that can be crossed by a beautiful wooden bridge. In this hidden place you can have a nice bath. Following the coastal path we see that some rocks have a greenish color: it’s the result of iron oxidation, in which these rocks are rich. The end of the coastal path, just 500 meters away (you cannot go further), leads us to contemplate part of the other northern coves that we can find before arriving to Sant Feliu de Guixols.

Cala Salionç is therefore an interesting cove within the set of coves that lies between Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols but has the disadvantage that, being located in a private urbanisation that doesn’t allow motor vehicle entrance for non-residents, makes your visit more difficult. We’ll leave the car next to the road and walk down along a paved road (no danger) with slope for about 2 km. Return will be harder, because you’ll have to ascend.

Cala Llevadó, in Tossa de Mar, Girona, Costa Brava

Cala Llevadó is located just after Cala d’en Carles, which is 3 minutes walking to the south, and has a campsite within walking distance, which explains why it is so crowded, especially in summer. This beach is covered with a thick, golden sand, very pleasant to the touch. The turquoise waters contrast with the green of the Mediterranean vegetation, mainly pine trees, that almost reach the sea.

Cala Llevadó is the typical Costa Brava creek surrounded by rock walls and adorned with trees (mostly pines and oaks) to almost reach the sea level. The cove is about 65 meters long and 35 meters width.

Cala Llevadó waters depth are fairly flat, without steep slopes, at least in the central part of the beach. However, in the northern part, to the left side, you find a quiet area perfect for watching the underwater, rich and highly prized for the excellent vision, since the waters of the creek are almost transparent. You really should not miss the opportunity to snorkel under Cala Llevadó waters if you visit it. Since it is a good anchorage area, you may see some small boats anchored off the cove.

Cala Llevadó is a small cove that has no special facilities for bathers. To get there just take the GI-682, from Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar, and turn right as you see the Camping Llevadó sign.

Cala Giverola, in Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain

It is very easy to access Cala Giverola by car. Situated 5km from the north of Tossa de Mar, you’ll find a resort promoted in 1987 by the Swiss postmen professional union. The development, called Pola-Giverola, is really nice and please pay attention (visible from the road) to the kind of tramway that from the hill goes down the mountain, until the creek. We haven’t seen anything like that in the Costa Brava. Behind the beach there is also a sports and leisure center for residents. The cove is not at all private, is public domain. In addition to urbanization there is a campsite.

Cala Giverola is relatively large, about 175 meters long, with fine golden sand, very soft. Like all the surrounding beaches, forests and rocks are close to it. The atmosphere in Cala Giverola is usually very familiar and festive, for the reason mentioned above. Being so crowded has developed some good services as parking. There is even a small boat that runs along the coastline of the area (ask for acceptance or price, maybe is reserved only for holidays residents).

Since it is very easy to reach Cala Giverola by car and to park near it, we recommend a visit to this spectacular creek, specially if you drive along the GI-682, the winding road that connects Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, where you’ll find a good number of beautiful creeks: Cala Giverola, Cala Salionç, Cala Futadera, etc.
